November 4, 2023: In a recent development, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, announced that his artificial intelligence startup xAI will be launching its first AI model this Saturday to a select group.

This revelation came during a conversation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in London, as the two discussed the future of technology and AI’s transformative potential.

Nearly one year after the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which captured the attention of global businesses and consumers, xAI is preparing to introduce its cutting-edge model, potentially setting a new standard in the field of generative AI.

Musk, who had a hand in founding OpenAI before stepping away from the board in 2018, now seems to be focusing his efforts on his own venture, xAI.

In a statement on his social media platform X, Musk expressed his belief in the superiority of the new AI model, claiming it to be the best available.

He teased that following its early beta phase, xAI’s Grok system will become accessible to all subscribers of X Premium+, broadening the reach of this advanced technology.

X, which people used to know as Twitter, recently introduced two subscription models. There’s a Premium+ option available at $16 per month for an ad-free experience and a basic plan costs $3 per month.

Musk’s strategy seems to be shaping a unique, integrated ecosystem for AI services and social media engagement.

Musk has been openly critical of the current efforts by big tech companies in AI development and has voiced concerns about censorship. In response, he has indicated plans to create an AI that prioritizes maximum truth-seeking, a project that would compete with giants like Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing AI.

xAI, launched in July, is backed by a team comprised of experts from prestigious AI institutions, including Google’s DeepMind and the parent company of Windows, among others.

While X and xAI operate as separate entities, they maintain a close working relationship, with xAI also collaborating with Tesla and other firms to expand its reach and capabilities.

Larry Ellison, Oracle’s co-founder and Musk’s self-described close friend, has hinted at Oracle’s involvement with xAI, stating in September that a contract had been secured to train xAI’s AI model on Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.
